Architecture and Interior Design Project

Rehabilitation project of an existing building of approximately 40 m².

The main objective of the rehabilitation was to provide the building with flexibility of use. The programme was developed so that the space could accommodate three distinct functions: a studio for short-term rental (Local Accommodation), a shop, or an office.
A kitchenette and a bathroom were introduced to define three separate areas, and a multifunctional custom-built carpentry unit was proposed to support all three potential uses.
All façade elements were preserved, including the restoration of the existing window frames and several notable interior features.
The use of traditional materials was prioritised, namely hydraulic mosaic tiles, evoking the memory and identity of the place.

Phases: Concept Design, Detailed Design, Construction Supervision, Technical Assistance on Site, Interior Styling.

Location: Beja, Portugal

Date: 2020. Completed project.
